We found one or two things that needed tweaking (around creating new accounts and deleting old proofs) but those are sorted. So, we believe that the everything is working properly. Please do let us know if you have any problems, however!

We believe that Futureproofs is back up and running properly again after this update. Again, we're very sorry for the inconvenience, and do please let us know if you spot anything that's not working the way you'd expect! We're continuing to test the service ourselves over the weekend, too.

The initial deployment is now complete, but don't get too excited! We're going to be running tests for the next hour or two, to make sure that everything is as it should be.

On Saturday 20th June from 10am (UK time), the Futureproofs application will be unavailable for a few hours while we migrate and update the database. We expect that the work will be finished by 3pm.
I'm sorry if this affects your plans to work on your projects this weekend. We always try to keep downtime to an absolute minimum but unfortunately it's sometimes unavoidable, and this is one of those times. Please keep an eye on our status page on Saturday if you want to keep close to things: this is where we'll keep you updated during and after the upgrade process.
The technical details: The major work that we're doing is upgrading our MongoDB database from version 3 to the latest version 4.2, as well as changing hosting service (from Compose.io, where we've been for the past 6 years, to MongoDB's own Atlas). This change brings improved security, features and performance that will help to ensure that Futureproofs keeps working for years to come. During the update, we'll be backing up and shutting down the existing database, and transferring everything across to new servers in Atlas. The Futureproofs application itself, with a range of security and functional updates, will then be deployed and connected to the new database. Once this is complete, we'll do manual testing to ensure that we're happy with the results, before we announce that the upgrade is complete with another email like this one.
